Mark Roozen received his bachelor in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota and his master’s degrees in Exercise Science from Tarleton State University, in Stephenville, Texas.
Mark Roozen is the President and Owner of Roozen’s Performance Edge Training Systems – a company that does consulting, performance training, speaking and camps and clinics throughout the country. His training methodologies have been successfully applied to the full spectrum of the population-youth, geriatric, rehabilitation, and elite athletes.
Roozen has authored numerous articles, is currently working on a series of books and videos on various topics covering training methodologies and human performance. His energetic approach to life and advanced knowledge of conditioning have made him a sought-after speaker and consultant. Roozen currently consults for various governmental agencies, educational institutions, and college and professional sports teams.
Over the past few years, Roozen has traveled to China to work with their Olympic athletes, assisted with pre-season workouts for the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and has worked with over 25,000 youth in sport and performance enhancement camps with NFL players such as Tim Dwight – now with the Oakland Raiders Dallas Cowboy greats Emmitt Smith, Bill Bates, Darryn Woodson and Dexter Coakley, Quarterback Rich Gannon, defensive standout for Kansas City and Denver Neil Smith, as well as numerous players from the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans.
Each summer he also brings his strength and conditioning knowledge and expertise to DAY OF CHAMPIONS CAMPS, which are sport camps that, along with performance-wellness and health – also teaches principles of successful leadership; Discipline – Respect – Trust and Hard Work to youth in the United States.
Roozen’s professional responsibilities have included serving as the Chairman of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Sport Specific Conference, past NSCA Texas State Director, and as a member of the NSCA Conference Committee, Nominating Committee and Memberships Committee. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the NSCA. He has also been involved in the Texas Association for Physical Education, Health, Recreation and Dance (TAPHERD), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and USA Weightlifting. Roozen has taught Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Test & Measurements and Theory of Strength Training at Tarleton State University and is currently involved in several ongoing fitness and health related projects.
Roozen is a member and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with Distinction (CSCS*D) with the NSCA and a member and a certified Club Coach with USA Weightlifting and has spoken across the country on all aspects of training, strength and conditioning, program design, pre-hab and re-hab topics, nutrition and areas of motivation, inspiration and goal setting.
